[MW:2192] RE: 2191] Offset between 2 longitudinal seam - piping

May 14, 2009

Su,

For line pipes, API 5L/ISO 3183, edition 2007, radial offset or misalignment allowed for SAW depends on wall thickness (WT):  lesser than or equal to 15.0 mm WT allowed is 1.5mm; greater than 15.0 mm to lesser than or equal to 25.4 mm WT allowed is 0.10 of WT; and greater than 25.4 mm WT allowed is 2.5 mm.

Best regards.

Subject: [MW:2191] Offset between 2 longitudinal seam - piping

Dear All members,

I would like to know what is the permissible limit of offset between 2 longitudinal seam especially for piping. ASME VIII clearly stated but B31.3 silent on it. Any other reference, code or recommended practice that i can refer to it. If any could you share with me. Thank in advance for you cooperation

Regards

Su
