[MW:2235] Re: WPS/PQR for dissimilar joint

Dear All,

PlZ Find the answer for your queries

1) Should we only preheat the CS forging and mention the same on the
WPS ?
Preheating is not required at all (Ref. ASME VIII non mandatory
appendix R (R-1 and R-7))
2) What should be the appropriate preheat temperature and on what
location to preheat?
NA
3) On what plate thickness should i qualify the Welding procedure in
order to qualify the base metal thickness range i.e for 800mm dia.
forging?
Based on ASME IX table QW-451 Procedure Qualification Thickness Limits
and Test Specimens min thick of test coupon is 10 mm because the max
thickness to be welded in site is 20 mm whatever dia size.
4) Should i qualify the joint on a dissimilar thickness with weld
deposition of only 20 mm, so what thickness of plates should i
select?
You should qualify on dissimilar metal with min 10 mm deposit weld it
will qualify up to 20 mm
Ref table QW-451 Procedure Qualification Thickness Limits and Test
Specimens
