Ref Sec IX: Let the first one finish 11 mm root and hp (+ some fill if the welding sequence says so) on full joint and then the other finishes off with remaining welding...Then you take care of some reinforcement in cap, too. This way, you fulfill the condition of "t". Rgds, Shashank Vagal

There is a situation where 2 welders are qualified to weld 12mm thick. Ifthe job thickness is 20 mm and dia, say is 36", contractor divide the joint in half. First simultaneously, each will weld approx 10mm thick including root half the circum, as they are qualified in 12 mm only. Then the interchange their location and they will complete the remaining welding. Basically these 2 welders who are qualified upto 12 mm are welding 20mm thickness joint, but at any given location they are welding 10mm thickness. Is this practice is acceptable.
