Re: [MW:33214] 2% thoriated Tungeston electrode

Hi Sujith ,

By using a color code system,(a band of color applied in tip of the electrode ) you can recognize the tungsten rod type.

By using AWS classification EWTh-2 ; u can also identify that it is 2% thoriated tungsten rod,  which contain 1.70 to 2.20 percent thorium range and it is most commonly used rod due its higher current carrying capacity. color designation is red for these electrode

Refer ANSI/AWS A5.12/AS.12M for further details and certificate of conformity

Thanks & Regards

Dear experts,

How to identify 2% thoriated Tungeston electrode and how to check this material with MTC from where we have to compare with. what parameter should be required for that.?

Best regards.
