Re: [MW:30722] SS 317L welding with 316L consumable

Dear Team,

If pipe has Mo More than 2.5 % then needed actually it's for 316 pipe chemistry.

Please use same PQR without requalification.

Regards

Dinesh

317L and 316L have the same P-No and Group No, if the A no of the filler metal and Fno don't change you don't need a new PQR

Hi experts

Contractor is proposing SS 316L pipe in place of SS 316L since it is not readily available (requirement is 20" pipe, 0.5m length with 2 nos joints). Though it is superior grade I am having doubt on welding.
SS 316L PQR is already established with 316L welding filler wire and electrode.

Can the same PQR be used in SS 317L pipe(thickness limits is within the WPS range)?
