I have repeated in many occasions that ASME BPVC is neither a mechanical engineer's handbook nor a welding engineer's one.
Basic knowledge is required in some fields to deal with the Code and other standards.
The Code, besides to be a compliance document it is a law in the US.
So, don't hope that you will find all answers to technical problems in the Code.
Use common sence and engineer's judgment.
Deposited weld metal is what is deposited because of the melting of the filler metal basically
