Re: [MW:27157] Aluminum welding 6061-T6 mechanical test bend failure

why you have chosen 4046 filler, instead 4043, or, 4047.is better choice

Minimum heat input
Preheat not to exceed 100
Interpass not to exceed 120.
no weaving
HAZ is always weak in Heat treatable alloys .

Carry out in T4 condition and Artificial Age it to T6

Dear Experts
I need query on Aluminium welding
Material -6061-T6
Material Thickness-16mm
Filler wire- ER4046
Process-GMAW
Pre heat-70 centigrade
Interpass- 120 centigrade
Preclean by Acetone cleaner and SS wire brush
Gas-Ulta high purity Argon gas

During PQR qualifications we face failure in bend test. Crack open at 30degree itself. Is the above method required PWHT after welding. If so what is the method of PWHT and cycle.

Kindly clarify?

Thanks in advance

Sathish
