RE: [MW:24211] Procedure qualification for AISI 4130 (Cr-Mo forging)

Hi Dhamotharan,

Please locate this file in Google, there're extensive information on welding of  AISI 4130 and other grades of AISI steels. These materials are predominantly used in O&G(Offshore) industry. There's no P No for this material and it's not included in Sec-IX-2015 code. Welding repair procedure has to be developed on the a AISI 4130 material.

Impact requirement is a function of the design Temperature. Usually valves are not designed to ASME Sec-VII,DIV-1 code. Piping code is more appropriate for design of valves. If it's B-31.3 code, check the  impact requirements  in that code.

Hope this clarifies your query.

Thanks.

Subject: [MW:24207] Procedure qualification for AISI 4130 (Cr-Mo forging)

Dear Experts,

I want to qualify a procedure for material AISI 4130, in 40 mm thickness, Code of construction is ASME Sec VIII Div 1.

Please advise at what temperature the impact test is to be performed? (no specific client requirement)

The intent to use this WPS for valve repair.

Thanks
