Re: [MW:24316] Wire size 1.6mm

u can contact any consumable manufacturer. Due to more resistance in dia 1.2 than 1.6mm for same current.

Dear Sir,

Thank you vey much for your explanation.

Is there any document or graph which I can use to explain to client? Maybe it would be helpful for me.

Dear Expert,

Greetings of the day.

I have a doubt on welding high strength material YP690, jack-up rig.

Currently we are using E111T1-GM H4, 80%Ar - 20%CO2, 1.2mm wire size.

Recently client is insisting on changing to 1.6mm wire size for higher productivity & efficiency.

However in my opinion, using 1.6mm requires usage of higher welding current 350A & above,

And not all welders are able to handle such high ampere & speed, this might cause some defects.

In addition, my concern is high heat input & cooling rate.

I have explained all this details to client, but client don't accept.
