Dear All
The depth of the damage that can be accepted is the depth of the serration and the area that can be accepted is 1.25 Cm2.
No machining or grinding is permitted,
The damaged serration cannot be reconditioned/repaired, the only way is to have the machining done so as to have the new serrations made on the surface.
Trust you will find this information useful.

Subject: Re: [MW:18335] flange face serration damage
dear Krishna,
as per my kwoledge & information, generally we are following for serration damage is as,
1.serration inspection is based on comparative method for the serration (using comparator)
2.if possible the width of the flange as per 16.5 permit some tolerance if its extra you make machining for raised face (mim 1.6 -2 mm)with respect to flange face.
if its width of flange is outside tolerance limit ,to avoid delay better for replace new one.but this also based on clint contractor mutual understanding & terms..
