I would recommend that up to 8” Ø you could try the profile radiography technique, this will give you the profile of both the internal and external walls. The remaining wall can be accurately calculated from the radiographs. Alternatively you can try long range UT, this requires removal of the insulation where the probe is attached and the results are reliable and accurate.

There are screening NDE methods possible to detect corrosion, this will depend on the specific type of corrosion you are looking for;
· is the suspected corrosion internal
· is your piping insulated
· what is the diameter of the pipe
I am saying this because methods like profile radiography is possible on small bore piping.
