E 6010 2.50 mm is suitable up to 6 or at times to 8 mm thick.if used in Vertical down (stove pipe technique) position.
Your proposal to use 3. 2 mm size is absolutely in line with welding a thickness of 12.70mm in
Vertical-down or Vert. up positions. It will help to get required weld fusion and penetration.
May be the client is under the impression that, 2.50 mm size may do the work.
Convenience your client or check both electrode sizes by welding a mock up plate if required.
