Re: [MW:15364] Pipe Alignment tolerances as per ASME B31.3

Tolerances are generally given in the contract documents or one can refer to  PFI standards ES02 and ES03.

B31.3 doesn't give tolerances, however Any distortion of piping to bring it into alignment for joint assembly which introduces a detrimental strain in equipment or piping components is prohibited (refer para 335).

All piping erection shall be examined to verify dimensions and alignment. Supports, guides, and points of cold spring shall be checked to ensure that movement of the piping under all conditions of start up, operation, and shutdown will be accommodated without undue binding or unanticipated constraint.

Dear Experts,

We are going to erect the pipe in the pipe rack. The construction is erecting pipe, doing fit-up, and welding. But pipe line in the rack is not straight. they are going the way like snake. Our consturction code is ASME B31.3 process piping. I wanted to know what is the acceptance criteria for the straightness if the line pipe.
Please provide the reference.
