Re: [MW:9945] using inconell electrodes to avoid PWHT

dear Martin

i have heard it couple years ago that the using of Inconel in PWHT condition was not really doing anything to the heat affected zone. They not help us to avoid residual stress (if this is your PWHT purpose). Inconel can be used for dissimilar metal, corrosion resistance overlay and to help reduce residual stress. Help in here does not mean AVOID. Residual may be less, but still exist.

Dear experts,

Why in many cases for certain type of materials which require PWHT is advised to use Inconel electrodes to avoid PWHT? What is the manin characters of Inconell welding consumables relating to this issue?

With warm regards,
Martin.
