Std test positions having the following limits.
 
1) + or - 15 degree from the specified horizontal plane
 
2) + or -5 degree from the specified vertical plane
 
Based on the above limits how can you make single test coupon to qualify the 3G & 4G positions.
 
Pls understand the "QW461.1 Positions of welds-Groove welds" .

So if I qualify the welders on production weld I can then give them 3G & 4G qualifications is that what you are saying?.

80 degree is allowable tilt in the production weld not for the qualification purpose.

In accordance with ASME IX QW461 positions.

If I test welders on plate and tilt the joint to 80 degrees does that mean on one test butt weld I can qualify my welders for 3G and 4G?
