Dear Mr.Ramesh,
Welding on SA312 TP 316L/316, with the dimensions you require can be performed with
AWS No. ER316L( complete weld i.e.; root+hot pass+fillup+covering passes)
Size I would suggest, 1.6/2.4 dia, the welding should be carried out in vertical uphill progression
with maximum interpass temperature175'C. And use DCEN, 70-90 amp, 13-18 volts at the speed of 50-60 mm/min.
Use 99.995 % Ar as shielding and Backing gas at the flow rate of 10-15 (shielding gas), and 5-10 (backing gas).
Check for the entire welding scheme and process parameters.
No leakage during purging.
I hope that helps.

Dear Friends,Seniors,
Subject:-A312 TP 316L SS, SCH 10S WELDING,DIA 10"
We are facing too many failures with our welders in Welding of SS Sch 10S (Lower Thickness).Even Good welders are not able to give good penetration even with adequate purging.Fusion is not clear.Sometimes the shape changes.
Is it bcoz of the ability of the Welder only or Something extra need to be taken care ?
Anybody can give me useful tips/suggestions to come over this issue? Any useful tips to the welders?
Warm Regards
Ramesh
