Dear Ganesh,
Constant current power sources are preferred in the process where the control is manual. e.g SMAW so that if at all there is variation in the arc length in welding it implies variation in the voltage but the current remain almost constant. But whereever machine operation  is possible generally constant Voltage power sources are preferred
