Dear all experts,
I have some queries for WPS making according to AWS D1.1. Hope experts can help me to explain it. Thanks so much!
- group number: In PQR if I weld material between group 1 to group 2 . (for example pipe (ASTM 106 gr.b or ASTM A500gr.C) to plate  ASTM A572 gr.50). What is the range of qualified mater group in WPS. We use GMAW process for 5F position . I can not found it in table 6.8. Just qualified gr.1 to gr.2 or can include gr.1 to gr.1 also or....
-  Is SS400 unlisted material or can be put it as group I or group II like to ASTM A36
- Fillet weld plate to plate in PQR can be qualified to fillet in pipe with all diameter in WPS and apply for T joint only (clause 6)?
- Fillet weld pipe to plate in PQR can be qualified to fillet in pipe with limited diameter in WPS and can apply for T , Y, K joint(clause 10)?
Thank you very much!

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...
