Yes, this is the purpose of orifice? but usually Olets do not come with 45 deg N U or S D, but the tapping connections are supposed to be in flange as what i have seen, anyhow in your case this is encroached, usually encroachment takes place in your scenario.

Basically for SA projects you have to maintain 20 mm or 3 times of the thickness which ever is greater to waive this scenario or if any of those 3 encroached welds have been PWHTed before performing second then exempted.

So whats your owner / cleint spec calls for?

Please if you could analyzed the attached image.

 

It´s pipeline B31.8.

 

Constructor at first time, welded tube-flanged joint. Then realized that its necessary have an instrument as showed.

 

The ask is there´re some restrictions for minimal distance between weld joint and derivation in pipe.

 

Please if you could give some reference in design code.
