You can qualify WPS meeting the requirements of ASME Section IX and EN ISO 15614-1 for example. Although it will be very descriptive. E.g. you have to write material grades, material grouping, filler wire grades etc as per both documents.

To qualify, make sure you meet the minimum specified requirements for both. In general ISO PQR qualification is stringent compare to ASME Section IX but ISO is simple to understand with fewer cross-reference while ASME Section IX is full of cross references and require more practical experience.

Regarding testing, EN code call for RT which is not mandatory as per Section IX. EN call for hardness and also specify the limit where section IX doesn't and list is continues. I advise you to go through the EN 15614-1 first and list out the minimum requirements to meet your qualification need and I am sure it will cover most of your ASME Section IX essential variables.

for document writing, make separate WPS for EN & ASME to have a simple and clear WPS.

Dear Sirs,

Can you please throw some light on WPS meeting both EN Standard & ASME Sec.IX.

Is there any additional test done on test coupon or coupon material needed i.e, impact testing.

Or WPS is made meeting project requirements only.

Kindly advise.

John,
