Re: [MW:28715] Seam to Seam distance of welding Joint in Intermediate Pigging Station of Cross Country Pipeline.

Dear  frind ,

no any code mention about this issue before , mainly to be mention by Clint specification .

in case of not mention my  experience from many project

any distance between two weld  shall be minimum  two time of thickness   .

in your case you have seam weld , i advise to maintain big distance as you can .

firstly get approval from clint so this case can be for the end of project

fron the first case make

1- Cross RT
2-PT
3-HD
4- match between HD and your service  so engineering can support you all time

so all will be clear and in safe manner

Best regards
mahmoud

Dear all,

Can anyone confirm the minimum distance between two longitudinal seams should be maintained in joint welding?

Refer below details in my case:

Pipe:API 5L X70 24" X 14.3 mm
As per asme b31.3 & asme sec VIII.
