Re: [MW:28826] Aws D1.1

Sorry guys for late reply.
Thanks to all.

One more question.
As per Aws D1.1

If we have a pqr with FCAW-GS (machine)
Can we make the wps using this machine Pqr to FCAW-GS (semi-auto) and vise versa?

Best Regards,
Chandra

Hi Chandra,
1- Yes, he is qualified for fillet welds on pipes regardless of the pipe diameter. Table4.10 - Check note " f " for joint shapes.
2- Shielding gas is not an essential variable for the welders. Changing the composition of the gas is an essential variable for FCAW-G for prequalified WPS and for PQR as well. Check table 3.1 & 4.5

Hi all,
I have few questions regarding AWS D1.1.

1. If a welder qualifies on 3G and 4F
He is qualified for all positions on fillet welds.

Is he qualify on pipe fillet weld? What  Diameter limits he can weld on fillet.

2. If a welder qualifies the welding process FCAW using mix gas (80%Ar +20%CO2)
Can he weld FCAW process using 100% CO2?

Please suggest ...

Best Regards,
Chandra
