ASME SEC IX QW302.2

the minimum length of coupon(s) to be examined
shall be 6 in. (150 mm) and shall include the entire weld
circumference for pipe(s), except that for small diameter

Subject: [MW:26234] Regarding Welder Qualification

Dear Experts,

As per ASME Sec IX if for small diameter we have to done qualification e.g. 1/2" dia . Pipe we will have to take multiple specimen to cover the 150 mm length for RT, and also we Can't take specimen more than 4 nos.

I have query which dia we will have to consider for qualification of welder it's Outer dia. Or Inner dia of pipe for circumference length calculation because if we will consider inner dia for calculation then we will have to take more than 4 specimens and which violates the code .

Best Regards,
Mohit Aggarwal
