Dear Pandithan,

Here the wire I am using is of dia 1.2 mm. So is it possible to give the current & voltage of that range in the weld layers? The welding process I am following is Root & hotpass TIG and the balance MIG.

Regards,
Aby

Voltage anything less than 21v goes to short circuit, but in ur case Voltage is ok, but increase the current to minimum 250amps, Do not put in Synergy mode and set the Current as required.

Dear Mr Pandithan,

In the machine I have selected the pulse mode itself. (GMAW-P). The position I am using is IG(rotating ) . As I am using the synergy mode in the machine the current and voltage is getting selected automatically when I am giving the wire feed speed. I am using the wire feed speed of 9.5 m/min, the voltage coming is in range 25V -28V and current in range 215 to 230. How to ensure I am not using the short circuiting mode?? I am using this process for pipe welding which includes both high and low thickness.

Regards,
Aby

As argon increase, %of penetration will come down and may get into porosity .  Try with 85+15 with current of >250amps. spatter is inevitable in this process, u can reduce by another option with GMAW-P. If u work in Spray mode, spatter stiking into base metal will be less due to its sizes

Try for 98% argon and 2% co2

Dear all,

What shielding gas should be used for the pulsed GMAW welding of carbon steel? When trying with 80%Ar+20%CO2 mixture I am getting a lot of spatters. The welding used is Automatic welding with Robotic machine.
Any recommendations???

Regards,
Aby
