[MW:23860] PTC requirements as per ASME Section VIII Div-2.

Dear Expert,

 

We are started manufacturing the LPG Sphere at our ARY project, Star Refinery Turkey.

 

Our Manufacturing Design Code of Sphere ASME Section -Vlll Div-2, design temperature -34 deg centigrade. Materials are impacted tested at  -34 deg centigrade wıth simulated heat treatment Condition.


 Materials Details are,

Materials:-  SA537 Cl.1 ( P.No - 1 Group No-2)

Thickness:-  28 mm & 45mm

 

As section –VIII Div-2 Production Test Coupon (PTC)/sample test coupon are mandatory.

But client specification only emphasis the Code not lookup the specific requirement.

As per Section Vlll Div-2 Table No - 6.8 PWHT shall be done materials thickness more than 38mm and above.

 

As per this clause our 28mm thick materials (shell) used sphere need not to be PWHT done.

Clause No-3.10.2.2 (provision of sample test coupons) calls for Sample test coupon only which under PWHT.

As per this clause we shall take PTC only 45mm thickness used plate of sphere, no need to do PTC for 28mm thickness used plate of sphere or PTC shall be taken from both.

 

you are requested please advise me how many test coupon are required as per ASME Section-VIII Div-2, what is the dimension the PTC, what test should be requirements and what time we shall conduct it.
