Syed Kashif
If one goes by the actual shape of the sockolet as per BONNEY FORGE then the valve end ought not to be visible . In your picture it is visible. Has any insert been socket welded between the sockolet and the valve?

Dear Mr. Lakshman,
Thanks for your comment. Further, can we cap the fillet joint ? As the client is saying that it is a partial weld . Is there any effect on the joint because of this ?

Hi,
It can be proved by doing hydro test if possible.
Else another option is fillet throat thickness should be minimum of base metals thickness (lots of code references are available, in this case minimum of valve body or socklet pipe thickness,)
Further one more detail need to recheck that the sockolet design, it is tapered and inside to the valve, this may cause damage to the valve sealings due to very high velocities' forming at that zone.

Are you certain it is the sockolet attached to an extended body gate valve?

Dear Members,
Good day.
I have a query regarding the partial fillet weld acceptance for Gate valve to sockelet connection from branch pipe.
We have welded the fillet weld of sockelet to Gate valve inlet but the client is not convinced with the weld joint strength and asking for technical acceptance of the pipe as per ASME B31.3. Attached drawing for reference.
The pressure is 7 bars.
Please comment whether there is any other option or this is acceptable with code reference.
