Re: [MW:23127] Re: Required clarification to read Rounded indications according to ASME SEC-VIII

In your case, for 3mm, please see table 4-1 with SI units. you could find that:

- Any rounded indication which has dimension greater that 0.38mm is relevant. It means that defects smaller than this size should be discarded and won't affect your interpretation ( so 0.5mm rounded indication is relevant).

- All other defects shall interpret with those criteria which discussed in the Appendix 4.

Sir,
Thanks for your kind reply.
I understood the max.size Rounded indication allowed for 3 to 6 mm.

for example; 3 mm thk.
According to fig 4-3,  Can I consider below 0.79 mm defect as a non relevant indications?

In this connection I am having 0.5 mm porosities 7 numbers Randomly... Can I accept?

Kindly explain about relevant and non relevant indication..

Thanks and regards,

Dear Sirs,

I have some doubt regarding rounded indication (defects) in weld metal.

How much porosities (Numbers with size) are allowed in 3mm to 6mm material thk. According to ASME –VIII, Div-1 (Appendix 4)…

Because, In Appendix 4, FIG 4-3, lot of porosities are showed. So please Guide me.

Also suggest me how to read the standard with respect to Appendix-4.

I am waiting for your reply in this regards.

Thanks & Regards,
