[MW:23192] RE: 23191] Corrosion Allowance for equipment

Materials are selected for process equipment based on the specific needs and service requirements of the item of equipment concerned, and the need for them to operable for that service. It is not just a question of applying a corrosion allowance. For example you may need to apply clad or corrosion resistant materials in that item of equipment. It sounds as if you may be writing a scope of work and you want to set a minimum standard for the work. In that case you could refer to an internationally recognised document/guide which lays down the basis for material selection for your industry and is used in your region of the world.

Subject: [MW:23191] Corrosion Allowance for equipment

Dear experts

Good day!!

In all corrosion prediction models for process units in oil and gas the prediction model calculate the corrosion rate for piping system and whereas the process condition in equipment such as the vessels, towers and exchangers is totally different with piping system the evaluation model is not applicable to predict the corrosion rate and calculate the corrosion allowance. So I want to know this phrase is correct or not;

"The corrosion allowance for equipment is at least equal to the worst corrosion allowance of pipes which connected to equipment".

If yes is there any specific code to verify the above phrase?

Thanks

Himan Nikdin
