Hi Saravanan,
Usually FCAW consumables for DSS are formulated to work with 100%CO2 and/Or with mixed gases, e.g 80:20, Ar+Co2 or 90:10 Ar+CO2. You need to check with consumable manufacturer. Shielding gas changes, weld metal properties, hence is an essential variable, calling for requalification of PQR.
Usually 100%Co2 shielding will have lesser notch toughness in weld metal than with Ar+CO2 shielding. This is due to more oxygen in the weld.
The ideal shielding gas will be Ar+Co2, for the optimum properties.
See this attachment page 12-14.
