Dear Asad Azmi,
There is no restrictions on method of radiography on Sec VIII. The ultimate is that weld is to be radiographed when required.
Pls. refer T.277.2 of section V, where it states about the number of IQI’s.
for your long seam, three IQI’s with one at each end and one at approximate centre is sufficient to accept your film.
In addition to that Check UW 51 (a) 3 of Sec VIII, where it states
A written radiographic examination procedure is
not required. Demonstration of density and penetrameter
image requirements on production or technique radiographs
shall be considered satisfactory evidence of compliance
with Article 2 of Section V.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
MM

Subject: [MW:10592] radiography of longseam by panaromic method
Dear All,
Greetings.
contractor has carried out radiography of the longseam of a vessel in one shot by panaromic method inspite of doing RT by sinlgle exposure method of each segment of the longseam.
while reveiwing RT films it was observed that few films for the longseam are not having penetrameter image on them.
kindly inform me whether it is acceptable to do RT of longseam by panaromic method and joint can be accepted with few films not having penetrameter image on them.
Construction code for the vessel is ASME SEC VIII DIV 1.
Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.
Asad Azmi
