If you refer ASME B31.1, it covers only boiler external piping (BEP) as illustrated in fig 100.1.2(A), (B), (C)
The dark line indicates BEP (scope under B31.1), including terminal points. The terminal points are defined else where in the code (refer para 100.1.2)
In my opinion it is designers responsibility to Cleary define the terminal points on the drawing, to avoid such confusion at construction sites

Hi,All Question 1 : We have boiler piping drawing.It refers two code on one drawing.Note on ISO's are as follows. ASME Section1/ASMEB31.1 . So what is the difference between ASME Section 1 and ASMEB31,1? Question 2 Some drawing also shows code break means some portion have ASME SECTON 1 requirement and Other portion have ASME B31.1 requirement.why? Question 3. If both code have different requiremt than How about NDT.Is it same for Both code? Question 4 On one drawing we have Socket weld joint and material is SA106C.Code is ASME section1/ASMEB31,1.will someone tell me what percentage of MT or PT required? |
