A 105 is an ASTM specification dealing with forged carbon steel piping components. The steel alloy involved is a low carbon, manganese and silicon containing steel similar to AISI 1330, but with lower manganese content.
Applications:It covers carbon steel forgings for piping applications such as flanges and fittings.
ASTM A105 - Grade II is a forging, but this grade does not appear in current standards - it is simply listed as ASTM A105 in current standards. The Grade II designation was dropped sometime after 1972. I can't tell you the exact year, since I do not have access to all of the old ASTM standards.
