Re: [MW:30707] How to start....

1. Select the P-Number of materials and unify them based on ASME Sec.iX QW-422.
2. Select from the Piping Class the Design temperature minimum and maximum.
3. Decide from the ASME B 31.3 about the requirements of Impact testing.
4. Select Welding consumable based on minimum and maximum temperature.
5. Seelect the Thickness requirements and Qualify PQR based on ASME Sec.IX QW451.1
6. Select the suitable welding process and refer to the Essential variables for that process in ASME Sec.IX QW 250 Tables.
7. Impact requirement based on ASME B31.3, T/2 to T+6mm will be thickness requirement.
8. A change in Essential variable requires new PQR

Hi experts,

I am currently assigned in a new piping project which uses asme sec ix and asme b31.3 . There are impact requirement also. The metals used are cs, ltcs, p22,p11, ss316,ss321,ss304 etc.

My confusion is that there are lot of combinations of piping classes which use the same material. How can i qualify wps for this piping project for all these materials.?  Any suggestions are welcome.

Regards,

Jacob.
