[MW:21412] Hard facing overlay on gate valve's Wedge

all,

8" gate valve. wedge material
is carbon steel (A216 WCB). wedge harfaced
area became less thick due to wear.

1) can we remove original overlay and apply
13%chrome overlay ? in this case which
welding rod should we apply. if yes can you
please send me WPS for this ?

Ans:
yes u can removed.

you can qualified WPS on plate using 309L as buffer layer and 316L subsequent run

2) we can not able to trace the original
harfaced material b'se it is old valve. PMI is
showing Ni- 51% , Fe-25% and Cr- 18 %.
what is this material ?

Ans: may b due to long time in service its chemistry changed.
