Re: [MW:21409] QW-.200.4 of ASME Sec. IX- Combination of Procedures

since it is not groove weld, u can use PQR A itself, Dissimilar metal comes into picture when it is groove/beveled  weld

Dear Experts,

So, I think WPS- A is OK or I can make a single WPS combining PQR-A & B. Please confirm.

Thanks & regards,

Dear sir
WPS :   BASE METAL THK RANGE QUALIFIED :  1.5- 200 mm
deposited weld metal qualified  GTAW : 5 mm max  and  SMAW : 200 mm max
refer : ASME sec : ix QW-200.4 Combination of Welding Procedures

More than one procedure qualification may be required
to qualify for some dissimilar thickness combinations.

1.In my opinion PQR A is sufficent enough to weld the thickness groove thickness 12 mm. Detail of the weld   groove was not clear in the drg.  Wps range available 16 mm                                                                      2. For combination Please refer table QW 451.1 notes (1,2) for combination WPS requitements. Please refer QW407.4 specially if higher thk
3. Tension test needs to confirm the requirements of QW-153 only. Regarding the failure appearance it is not a mandatory requirement as sec- ix. Please refer if any project specific requirement.
4. Again if a little more info can be provided I do not feel any harm in it.Pls refer what lab tesile test procedure details about essential requirement for reporting.                                 I hope our group expert will show some more light on it.
