Hi Gents,

I would like to request your valuable opinion/time regarding 6mm Multipass fillet under water confirming to AWS D3.6-2010 acceptance to Class B (fit for purpose). Materials to be used is AS1111 Grade 4.6 Bolt over AS3678 Grade 250 26mm plate. This is required for repair/replace by welding the anode brackets in place, so no special requirements need to be considered.

Could you please advise, whether there is any major risk in doing so.

I understand the weldability of the 4.6 grade bolt is not that excellent and will have issues related to HICC. We are using the consumable Hydroweld FS as per attached. As this weld is not that for a critical application, please provide me your expert advice.

Please view below the pWPS extract I prepared FYI.

Procedure:

Grind off the stud back to the doubler plate, including any paint unit clean shiny steel surface is achieved.

Weld a M20 Grade 4.6 Hex Bolt to the doubler plate with CFW  all around.

Reinstall the anode bracket to this M20 Stud.

Regards,
