Gamma rays are electromagnetic radiation. I have never heard of contamination resulting from the use of gamma (or x-rays which are also electromagnetic). The hazards which I know of are related to health to individuals as a consequence of exposure. See Wikipedia for the hazards associated with use of gamma rays (as a starter).
