Subject: [MW:20664] In-Service pipe damage
Dear Experts,
During Pipeline crossing of a Cross-Country pipeline project(30" OD API 5L X-60) In-Service pipe is damaged by Excavator teeth due to bad workmanship. Damage depth upto 2 mm. (In-Service pipe OD=30"; API 5L X-52. Pipeline containing Natural gas. Pressure approximately 1000 psig. No accident happened.) It is not possible to shut down the pipeline to repair because one region of the country will not get gas because only one supply line. As a Mechanical Engineer i know this damage portion is a point of stress concentration. Anytime anything can happened. What should i do.
