Re: [MW:17504] Welder validity

contractor working for manufacturer!!!!!!!! Any way, Contractor or manufacturer shall be responsible for conducting the performance test as per QW300.2;  the welder can only work under the supervision of the responsible (contractor or manufacturer) thus, Y contractor shall requalified the welder in accordanc with the applicable standard.

Now as the manufacturer is same there is no need of re qualification, because the welder is welded under the quality guidelines of the manufacturer not the contractor X or Y.

Please refer QW 300.2 (a) of ASME BPVC Sec IX.

Now if the manufacturer itself is working under the quality guidelines of different clients, then the welder has to be re-qualified.

Hope for comments if i am wrong, with references.

Dear all,
Query- one qualified welder under x contractor at one manufacturer. Now consider he left the x contractor & join y contractor & working under same manufacturer but at different location.
In view of above case is he qualified to do welding under y contractor at same manufacturer located at different place?......or need requalification?
Regards, MHT
