RE: [MW:12730] P91 - Welder qualification

Dear AISF,

Please refer to ASME Section IX, paragraph QW-423.1:

Welders qualified using any P-No. 1 through P-no. 15F, P-No. 34 and P.-No. 41 through P-No. 49 are qualified for production welding of same.  Therefore, yes, he would be qualified for A335 P91 materials without further qualification.  I would however, caution that you need to ensure the welder understands the requirements of welding P15E materials and that there is a qualified procedure acceptable to product and service conditions.

Subject: [MW:12725] P91 - Welder qualification

Dear experts!

As per previous edition of ASME Sec IX, If a welder qualifies for P no. 1

his range of qualification will be P1 through P11.

According to latest edition of ASME Sec IX-2010, P no. of A335 P91 material

is changed from P5B Group 2 to P15E Group 1

If a welder qualifies with P1 material, can he weld A335 P91 without additional qualification?

Regards
