RE: [MW:12769] Accidental Pressure in PED

Hello,

To my knowledge there is no considerations of ”Accidental pressure”. The directive contains a number of “essential safety requirements” in relation to normal use, and allows here up to 110% overpressure. Which also means that safety relief devises may be sized to 110% overpressure, i.e. 10% above the design pressure. The capacity should correspond to any accidental mistakes in the use, such as closing of outlet valve from a vessel, opening of inlet valve with closed outlet valve, etc. Simply corresponding to the base cases in API 521.

PED does not consider accidental situations (i.e. “Damage limitations” in accidental situations), such as fire.

See also guideline 5/2 in PED guidelines, ref. link:

regards

Kristian

Subject: [MW:12763] Accidental Pressure in PED

Dear Experts,

Is there any provision or clause related to consideration of Accidental Pressure during Design in PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) ?

If yes, Kindly send me the snap shot or clause no of the same.

Regards,
Jaydeep
