Re: [MW:6255] Solution Annealing of Stainless Steels

Mansoor,

Solution annealing is to dissolve the precipitated carbides at high temperature say 1050degC and then quench it to avoid carbide precipitation during cooling.

Hardness will not increase since there is no phase transformation and formation of martensite as in the case of carbon and low alloy steels.
