Some of the common things in all specifications and standards as below.
1. 625 or 825 weld overlay performed using Inconel 625 weld consumable.
2. While overlaying Nickel alloys over carbon or low alloy steel substrate important is Cleanliness. This can be achieved via warming with preheat torch on the ovelaying surface and wire brushing.
3. Cleaning with Acetone or any solvent may be required.
4. Depending on the substrate material either carbon content or/& Thickness may be used as a Factor for deciding preheat especially during first layer depending on the P-No of the material.
5. Care may be exercised while overlay 625 first layer to minimise dilution by control of heat input or travel speed to keep the iron content within 5% to reduce the risk of cracking due to Niobium present in the 625
6. Meeting the overlay 625 chemistry requirements at the specified height from the fusion line and hence decide the Thickness.
