if there is not PWHT requirement thn you can start welding directly without buttering.
Otherwise you start with buttering on 5A, then you perform PWHT and then you complete the weld

I have weld joint between P5A to P8 materials, using nickel base consumable.
Before start this butt joint, is it mandatory to do buttering on P8 material ? or we can weld direct butt joint groove between these two materials. (SA387 GR22 CL2 or SA240 TP304L)
