RE: [MW:24834] Weare or string

Incorrect information.

First PW-40 is in Section I not Section VIII, so does not apply top question asked.

Second, PW-40.3.4 (d), which references bead width, applies only to repairs performed by the temper bead or half bead technique.  Very specialized application.

Third, there is no restriction otherwise on bead width in either Section VIII, Division 1, or Section I.

One will often find such restrictions in customer specifications.

Careful where you walk.  Free advice is worth just that.

I am wondering if anyone knows what the maximum weave is for SMAW (specifically ASME Section VIII Div 1). For some reason 3x is sticking in my brain, but I would like to know where to find it in the ASME Codes.
