RE: [MW:24835] Weare or string

Again, incorrect information.

Section VIII, UCS-56.f.4(-a) applies only to repairs avoiding PWHT by use of temper bead or half bead technique.  See UCS-56.f.4(-c).

There is no weave width restriction for general welding in either Section VIII, Div. 1, or Section I.

Do not apply special case requirements to general welding.  A recurring mistake made by many.

As per ASME Section VIII Div1,

Please refer to the para UCS-56 (Requirements for Postweld Heat Treatment) para f(4)-a

Mentioned as maximum bead width shall be four times the electrode core diamter.

Chandra

I am wondering if anyone knows what the maximum weave is for SMAW (specifically ASME Section VIII Div 1). For some reason 3x is sticking in my brain, but I would like to know where to find it in the ASME Codes.
