As per ASME Sec. IX, Table QW-453 there are two types of Overlay (1) Corrosion Resistance (2) Hard Facing. So, 1st you decide types of Overlay and then follow notes no given in Table QW 453.

i am preparing WPS and PQR for overlay for the first time. i have checked ASMEIX QW-453. it just confused me!!!!actually we are finding which materials is the most suitable one for overlaying. the base metal is A216 WCB and the overlay arestellite, monel, F316 and 13%Cr.i read that the dimentions of base metal should be 15*15 cm, with 2.5cm thickness. which examinations should be done on samples to prepare PQR?
