[MW:1081] Re: Burmah-Castrol strip type 1

Field Flux Strips (Burma Castrol) Type I (G)eneral
&
Field Flux Strips (Burma Castrol) Type II (A)ircraft

Magnetic Flux* Strips are a simple-to-use, inexpensive and effective tool that provides you with assurance that you are performing an effective magnetic particle test.

Their proper use proves that you have:

- Adequate field strength and direction

- Proper illumination

- Appropriate magnetic particle properties

Magnetic Flux strips should be used to confirm that all required testing parameters, including: lighting, field strength and direction, magnetic particle properties and coverage are sufficient to find surface cracks equal or greater in size than those built into the strip.

Magnetic Flux  Strips can be used with; Fluorescent, Wet Visible (Black & White) as well as Dry Particles (with or without contrast). They can be used with AC, FWDC and HWDC magnetization, with either longitudinal or circular fields.

They can also be used to demonstrate the sensitivity differences between these methods and to develop magnetizing techniques and to assure complete coverage.

They should be a mandatory part of all Magnetic Particle testing procedures.

* Previously known as "Burmah-Castrol" Strips. They are a form of Q.Q.I. and could replace "pie" gauges.

What is Burmah-Castrol strip type 1?  And how sensitivity will be demonstrated in MT with this?
