the more detailed your Q you may get quick and suitable replies. what code you are using and what type of tests you are intended to do or any additional requirements in the contract. whether it is plate or pipe qualification?
 
If you are using ASME Sec IX and qualification by RT min 6" length radiograph required to interpret, accordingly you may take the test plate. for small dia pipes multiple coupons may require.
