[MW:1112] Re: Cold Bending of SS.304 1.1/2" size pipe / tube

Refer to Clause  RCB-2.31. It restarins to 17% thinning  for work hardened materials. It also refers to 2.33 on HT.
In industry practice, Austenetic SS materials are considered to be of  work hardening type and  the above clauise ais applied for Heat Exchnager tubes.

You may use Table UHA44 (ASME Sec VIII div1) for PFHT requirement, which is most common in HE  U tubing.
Para 331.4.2 not clearly spelt out for P8 material, but there is something called 10% strain limit, which is same as given in UHA44 for 304 material

Cold Bending of SS.304 1.1/2" size pipe / tube

Hi,

Is there any code restriction for doing cold bending of SS-304 (1.1/2") pipe? Any post bending heat treatment required?
31.3 only specifies heat treatment for ferritic steel.

thanks & Regards,

Dhwani
